Pastor David Goodson and his wife, Christine, faithfully planted HOPE Baptist Church in 2017 with a shared commitment to bring the hope and love of Christ to the community. With a heart for teaching God’s Word and shepherding His people, Pastor David leads HOPE as its senior pastor, driven by a deep passion for seeing lives transformed by the Gospel.
Pastor David is known for his heartfelt sermons, expository preaching, and practical approach to ministry, always encouraging people to grow in their faith, seek God’s purpose, and spread His love to others. Though he didn’t grow up in the church, the Lord transformed both his and Christine’s lives when they were saved on August 11, 2001. Since that day, they’ve dedicated their lives to ministry, finding joy in guiding others to develop a personal relationship with Christ through biblical discipleship.
In the words of Pastor David and Christine, “We are committed to creating a church that is welcoming, loving, and grounded in biblical truth, where our focus shifts from rules and religion to a deep, vibrant relationship with Christ.”
Beyond the pulpit, Pastor David invests himself in the life of the church through community outreach, small group Bible studies, and discipleship. He has a passion for making a lasting impact both in Stallings and beyond, helping people discover hope, healing, and purpose in Christ.
Pastor David and Christine are blessed with a close-knit family: three children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and two precious granddaughters. Together, they share the joy of family life and the calling to serve.
With a vision that is both simple and profound, Pastor David seeks to lead HOPE Baptist Church as a family of faith rooted in love, service, and sound doctrine, where every person can experience the transformative power of the Gospel.
James and AnnMarie Robertson joined HOPE Baptist Church as Associate Pastor and Associate Pastor’s wife in September 2024. Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, James was introduced to ministry at a young age when his father became a pastor. He accepted Christ at 18, pursued his calling at Victory Baptist College in North Augusta, SC, and spent three years apprenticing with an evangelist where he traveled the U.S. to preach and minister at youth camps and revival services. With over 12 years in ministry, including 6 years as a Worship Pastor, James has a passion for missions, having traveled to six foreign countries to spread the gospel.
AnnMarie was born in Fayetteville, NC. Her mother, a Catholic from Ireland found Christ and started attending church, where AnnMarie was saved at 18. Living with Cystic Fibrosis, she underwent a life-saving double-lung transplant in 2018, deepening her faith and commitment to serving others. As the Associate Pastor’s wife, AnnMarie loves teaching children’s classes, discipling young ladies, and serving in various roles within the church. Together, they enjoy hiking, reading, cooking, coffee dates, and thrift store shopping, while James tries to find time for hunting and fishing.
After experiencing several years of brokenness, they found healing and restoration at HOPE Baptist Church under Pastor David Goodson and his wife Christine. They aspire to extend the love and leadership exemplified by their pastor and his wife, to the church community they’ve been entrusted to help shepherd. Their life verse, John 3:30 “He must increase, but I must decrease,” reflects their commitment to glorifying God in all aspects of their lives.
