The HOPE Launch Story

See how God transformed the vacant bank in the Town of Stallings, NC into HOPE, a ONE Baptist Church. It is not possible to describe all of the good things that God has done for His church. Pastor David and his wife Christine are so thankful for the Lord’s marvelous blessings and humbled to be a part of this amazing story. Thank you to everyone who provided, donated, worked, contributed, supported, and prayed. Come experience the blessing of the Lord at HOPE!

Our Pastor

Pastor David Goodson surrendered into full time ministry when he was called to preach in 2003. Having not been raised in a Christian home, the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ pricked his heart the first time he heard it on August 11, 2001. That day Pastor David accepted Christ as his savior at 34 years old and his life has never been the same since then.

Prior to his salvation, Pastor David studied graphic arts and worked in the special effects industry after earning his Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. From there he owned his own graphic design business and worked in sales. The time he spent in the secular world prepared him even more for his calling to ministry. Pastor David has been through significant communication and leadership training, has worked with and led hundreds of people, and he understands the demands of a career that church members have to balance with service.

When God called Pastor David into ministry, his past experience all came into play and his light began to shine while following the Lord’s calling! When you meet him, you will immediately see that he has a genuine love for people. One of his greatest passions in life is sharing the Word, he has been studying the Word chapter by chapter for seventeen years. Pastor David also has a real heart for souls both around the world and right here in our community! Over the past seventeen years, Pastor David and his wife, Christine, have been able to personally lead hundreds of people to Christ.

Pastor David and Christine have been blessed with three wonderful children and one son-in-law, Derrick, who is married to their daughter Tareea. She is twenty-five and met her love in youth group at church. Hayden is twenty-two and works full-time in the Charlotte area and is Riley nineteen, she is attending Anderson University in SC.

When Pastor David realized that God was calling him to start HOPE Baptist Church in Stallings, NC, the entire family was in prayer and supportive of the new church plant. He and his wife are very excited to take on this honor for God. They are committed to building God’s church and know that they are just vessels to be used. They all look forward to what God will do in the future with HOPE.

Our Beliefs

  • We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testament is the inspired Word of God. It is inerrant, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:20-21)

  • We believe in One God who is revealed in the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4, Matt. 28:19, 2 Cor. 13:14, John 14:10,26)

  • We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives. (Isa. 59:2, Isa. 64:7, Mic. 3:4, Rom. 6:16, Rom. 6:23)

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man and is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross in our place, rose again to life, and ascended to Heaven. (John 1:1,14, John 10:30, Col. 2:9, Heb. 1:8, John 11:25-26, 1 Cor. 15:3-4, 2 Cor. 5:14-15)

  • We believe that we receive an eternal salvation, the forgiveness of our sins, and reconciliation to God, by grace through faith in Jesus. (John 3:5, 16-17, Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 5:8, Acts 4:12, Rom. 10:13)

  • We believe in water baptism by immersion for every believer and that the baptism is not part of salvation, but is one of the first steps of obedience in our Christian walk. (Acts 8:36-39, John 3:23, Matt 3:16, Matt 28:19, Rom. 6:3-4)

  • We believe that God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives and that He enables us by His grace to grow in love, maturity, and relationship with Him. (2 Peter 3:18, Eph. 3:17-18, Eph. 4:15, Col. 2:6-7, John 15:5)

  • We believe that each person will exist eternally. Whether we spend eternity with God or separated from Him is determined by our response to the grace and salvation of Jesus. (Matt. 25:46, John 5:28-29, John 11:25-26)

  • We believe that Jesus will come back again for the Church. (Dan. 2:31-45, 1 Thes. 4:13-17, Titus 2:13, Rev. 19:11-16)
