68 – To Worship Him
Bible Text: Exodus 34:1-8 | Speaker: Pastor David Goodson | Series: The Great Escape | In our last message, Moses had been given confirmation from God that the He would be going with them on their journey to the Promised Land. It was during this moment of excitement and confidence that Moses requested to see God’s glory.
Now, Moses didn’t realize that what he was asking for was actually impossible. It wasn’t that God was limited, it was Moses’ human form that made it impossible. For you see because of Moses’ natural human body with all of it’s frailties, imperfections and impurities, if he saw God’s full glory, it would kill him.
So, because of His love for His creation, God agrees to allow Moses to see just a glimpse of His back in order to fulfill his request.
What we saw in that message is that some times what we ask for, is not what we’re going to get. Not because God doesn’t want to grant our request, but because what we’ve asked for is not what’s best for us. Moses sought God’s glory, because he was desperate to know Him more intimately and be as close to God as he could be.
It’s with this heart that Moses will receive instructions from the Lord as we pick up here in Exodus 34.
