67 – To See His Glory
Bible Text: Exodus 33:18-23 | Speaker: Pastor David Goodson | Series: The Great Escape | Last week we saw how Moses interceded yet again for the people as He spoke with God and the Lord’s focus in their conversation was to get Moses and the Israelites back on course to the Promised Land.
God wanted them to be focused upon where they were headed, instead of worrying about their recent failure. As we looked at that, we recognized the positive impact that focusing on the future can have in our own lives.
While at the same time, we were able to identify how destructive it is to focus on the negative experiences of our past. (This is where the devil thrives!) Then we saw the impact that one man “Moses” who boldly followed God could have on the world around him.
As Moses set up a temporary tabernacle to meet with God far outside the camp, he pictured how we are to be separated from the rest of the world.
It also helped us to understand the humility it requires to serve God, because if any Israelite was seeking God they would have to take that long walk to Moses tent in full view of their countrymen, in order to find the Lord.
In this incredibly strong visual example we saw a beautiful picture of the humility required to not only seek God, but also to find Him.
As we pick up in Exodus 33 this morning, Moses’ conversation with God continues as he tries to negotiate with the Lord after hearing that God was not going to travel with them anymore.
